In honor of William Arkin, who couragously broke the taboo among leftists against revealing one's contempt for the United States military, we proclaim this page: Arkinites. __________________________________
BCB is proud to present the first ARKINITE award to Democrat Sen. Dennis Kucinich, for his role in publicly exposing the U.S. as having: "illegally attacked and invaded Iraq in a war based on lies"
Mr. Kucinich no doubt still supports the troops, just not the illegal acts they're committing on an hourly basis. _____________________________________________ ANGER UPDATE: The anger among those in the military swells. It's not that they're surprised over Arkin's contempt for them. it's that they expect something more from employers of Arkin, those who enable his contempt. NBC and the Washington Post will not distance themselves from Arkin, and why should they? They have their editorial integrity to think of, and why should they be pressured into denying their own core beliefs? ____________________________________
William M. Arkin, a hithertoo relatively obscure talking/writing head for the Washington Post and NBC, has taken the PUBLIC plunge headfirst into the sewer that so many anti-Americans reside in.
Does he have a book coming out? Why else would someone on the left
bare their true feelings and beliefs? His contempt for our efforts in
Iraq, usually reserved for those in charge, is leveled right at the
thousands of military men, women, and families taking the brunt of
sacrifice. Evidently, the soldiers make a "decent" wage, are generously
provided housing, healthcare, etc. In exchange, Arkin wishes they'd
just shut up and stop voicing their displeasure over guys like him,
who're doing their best to sabotage support for the war, for our
troops. Arkin's expertise includes a stint as "military adviser" to GREENPEACE.
It's not clear if his involvement with GREENPEACE was confined to
defensive measures, or offensive measures which can show up in the
sabotaging of ships it deems unworthy. Is there any doubt that
Arkin would support the troop's "right to speak freely" if they
generally supported the growing resentment of guys like Arkin? Hell no.
He'd be writing a piece describing our honorable soldiers, doing the
hard lifting, making the sacrifices, for very little pay, who's
opinions need to be listened to. Arkin's public views can help in
encouraging transparency among his fellow travelers. We are a bit tired
of hearing that worn out refrain "We support the troops, just not any
single thing they're doing". At BCB we encourage all ARKINITES to step front and center. Proudly proclaim your REAL feelings. Hillary, are you listening?
*** In honor of Mr. Arkin's courageous stand, we here at BCB
are designating ARKINITE as the new catch-all term for those who oppose
any and all involvement in Iraq, in the middle east, anywhere in the
world for that matter, unless it's been approved by our left-leaning
media, Sheehan devotees, and Democrats running for office.***
Who IS Mr. Arkin? 2003 article by Hugh Hewitt
Mr. Arkin's contempt for the military is almost as old as he is.
